Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally 4WD ProgramTo Air From This Weekend

Motor sport enthusiasts will get a  second  course  of rally action served up  in an appetising offering next weekend when  the second part  of the Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally is aired on host broadcasters Network Ten and One HD.

A one hour highlights package from the penultimate round of the Bosch Two Wheel Drive championship will be aired at 12Noon on Saturday 24th November on Network Ten and replayed on One HD at 12:30pm on Sunday 25th November then again at 11:00am on Wednesday 28th November and at 1:00am on Sunday 2nd December. (check local program guides for details)

The  dedicated one hour Australian package covering the Bosch Four Wheel Drive ARC round at Coffs will feature some spectacular driving on the fast and challenging  coastal forest roads around the  town which will of course again host the World Rally Championship Rally Australia in September next year.

ARC CEO Scott Pedder says that having two, one hour shows is a great result for the sport.

“The original concept was to have a one hour package for the outright two wheel drive and four wheel drive cars and another one hour package for the Junior challenge,” said Scott.

“However when it was evident at the rally that the Junior contestants were genuinely mixing it with the outright contenders and considering the success of the junior finalists in the outright category we made the decision to change the format,” he added.

“We discussed the idea with the juniors and they were absolutely rapt to be included in the outright shows,” he added

As part of the program, the exciting new rally Australian Side by Side Rally Challenge will be a part of the four wheel drive show.

Podium finish for Ryan Smart at Coffs Coast Rally 2012

Congratulations to the boys and the team at Snake Racing. After a very long week here in Coffs Harbour full of tests days, recce, media days and two days of rallying it was all worth the effort everyone put in with a podium position for the team and 3 out of 4 Snake crews finishing in the top 6.

Today Ryan Smart and John Allen Car #94 delivered some very impressive times in the Side x Side class of the Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally which saw him claw his way back into 3rd  position. This was very pleasing to all after yesterdays issues with the vehicle. Once the car was up and running again Ryan finished Heat 1 yesterday with a win in SS8 and this certainly gave Ryan the edge he needed as he spent most of today only a second or 2 off the pace and kept the pressure on Cody Crocker who finished in 1st place.

Congratulations must also go to 2 of our other crews Mick Smith and Michael Sales Car #99 and father and son Nathan and Les Chivers Car #96 who both finished the rally with a great result.

Mick Smith’s steady approach paid off for him as he just wanted to finish the rally and he managed to do that without any problems over the weekend and placed 5th in the Side X Side class.  Mick was very happy with his result considering this type of event is new to him in 2012.

Unfortunately Nathan also suffered from some issues with the vehicle on day 1 which saw him miss 2 stages but he managed to give it all he had and finish in 6th outright which was fantastic. Heat 2 SS9 saw Nathan achieve a time just over 1 second behind Cody which was amazing and really goes to show he has the talent needed to keep this rallying interesting.

It was great to see Snake take out a podium position and as this is the first year Snake has been involved with an ARC event everyone is pretty stoked. After the storm hit and everyone stood in the rain the sun shone through and we were able to enjoy seeing our boys receive their trophy which was a thrill for the whole team.

Snake Racing is very proud to be part of such a great motoring event and are really happy to see the enthusiasm behind the Side x Side class. We are sure that it will only grow from here.

Thousands Turn Out For Ceremonial Start To Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally

FIRST PUBLISHED ARC WEBSITE Saturday 13th October 2012

Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally got underway in the heart of Coffs Harbour on Friday evening attracting thousands of local fans and spectators to what is quickly becoming the rally capital of Australia.

The 68 car field for the fifth round of the Bosch ARC was flagged away by newly elected Mayor of Coffs Harbour Denise Knight, along with other dignitaries including local state MP Andrew Fraser, Federal MP for the seat of Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker as well as president of the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport, Andrew Papadopoulos.

The down town shopping centre of the NSW Mid North Coast city was packed with rally cars and fans as the cars departed for two days of rally competition in the forests to the north and west of Coffs before the finish on the waterfront on Sunday afternoon.

Bosch ARC CEO Scott Pedder said the crowd was a huge vote of confidence in the sport and its place in the annual sporting calendar of Coffs Harbour.

“The people of Coffs got right behind Rally Australia last year and have show again today that they love rallying and the festive spirit it brings to town,” said Scott.

“The thousands of fans who turned out for the start tonight added to the atmosphere of a great event and is an indicator of just how big the WRC Rally Australia will be when it returns here in September 2013,” he added.

Three times Australian rally champion Cody Crocker was the first to be flagged away in a Polaris Side by Side buggy as part of an 11 car field in the exciting new all terrain vehicle class of the Bosch ARC.

Wauchope’s Michael Boaden in his Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX was the first of the conventional rally cars to start while four times Aussie champ Simon Evans’ Mazda 2 was the first of the new generation G2 two wheel drive rally machines away.

The rally is due to finish on Sunday around 4pm.

Coffs Coast Rally 2012 Side x Side Update. Heat 1

WOW What a day. After a week of CRAZY weather patterns it turned out to be the best day of the week so far with beautiful blue sky and not  drop of rain.

The Side x Side class was first off the rank and there were so many dramas, thrills and spills by the whole field.

The team from Snake Racing had a bumpy start with Ryan and Nathan experiencing a few issues. It was sad to see Nathan not finish the day but we are sure he will give it all he has to get some great times tomorrow and show just how talented he is.

Ryan Smart Car#94 still proved at the end of the day that he has the pace to keep this rally interesting after the problems he suffered, as he finished SS8 with the fastest time and currently sits in 6th position.

Wayne Murphy Car #91 and Michael Smith #99 finished in 3rd and 5th positions and hope to improve tomorrow. Wayne Murphy was lucky to keep going as he skimmed a tree along the way giving Aaron a bit of a fright but he made good pace and recovered well. Many comments were made throughout the day at just how fast Wayne was moving along.

Currently sitting in 1st is Cody Crocker and 2nd is Iain Hughes.

Unfortunately for some of the other Side x Side teams their day did not end up so well. Roycroft, Kafantaris, Knight and Swindale DNF with Kafantaris having a huge off on SS7. We are happy to hear all are ok.

SO There is a good chance that 3 of our team members may end up on the podium which would be a great achievement if they can pull it off. Fingers crossed and we wish the boys luck for tomorrow.

Coffs Coast Rally 2012 Shakedown and Media Day

The Snake Racing Coffs Coast rally kicked off this morning with VIP rides for some lucky locals. There were many smiling faces as they pulled in from a run through the state forest in a rally car with drivers such as Eli Evans, Simon Evans, Mark Pedder, Mick Patton, Brett Middleton and Mark Beard in a range of Subaru’s, Honda’s and Mazda’s. The real surprise and thrill came when they jumped into some of the Side x Side vehicles and were blown away at the performance and ability of this class of vehicle. Many were commenting on the fun factor and how well they handled and the excitement that is created by the fact that the vehicles are an open style vehicle. The boys from Snake Racing had a ball show casing their 4 team cars and the locals were more than impressed to have the likes of Ryan smart, Wayne Murphy, Nathan Chivers and Mick Smith at the wheel.

One young boy, Nicholas Caruso, had such a great time riding with Ryan Smart that he lined up more than once to experience the thrill of being in the passenger seat of the Side x Side. Even the local Highway Patrol guys went along for a ride with Wayne Murphy in Snake Car 91.

Another young driver that turned heads today was the very talented Brendan Reeves who has just returned from the WRC in France this week. Brendan who is driving the Zero car at this event with his navigator sister Rhianon Smyth on board was having a quiet morning until the passengers realised just who was driving the Zero car. A line soon formed to obtain a ride along side Brendan.

It was a fantastic event arranged by the ARC organisers. Also great to see that the whole community of rallying is embracing having the new class of the Side x Sides on board for this event and you can definitely feel the excitement they are generating not only amongst rallying guys but also the general public.  There were many questions about how to get started in one of these vehicles. Don’t be surprised if next year there is twice as many in the competition.
