BROTHERS Adam and Nathan Gotch celebrated winning their first NSW Formula Three title by declaring their intentions to take on the national circuit next year.

The Snake Racing/AGI Sport team led by driver Nathan and team manager brother Adam combined their extensive years of motor racing experience to establish the Peakhurst-based race team.

“We grew up in a motor racing family and spent our childhood around race tracks,” Adam said.

Nathan raced the four cylinder Dallara, winning 11 out of 15 races including setting three lap records in the five round event. Adam spent time as a grand prix mechanic for Williams’s F1 team and as team manager of Australia’s entry in the A1 GP world cup of motor sport. Nathan raced the Bathurst 12 hour event twice.

“Our long term ambition is to find the next Mark Webber,” Adam said. “We’re looking at two cars next year, one for Nathan and another for a youngster to give them training in the F3 in Australia and help them on their way to Europe.” It cost $50,000 to run the car this year, and that will double on the national level in 2013.

Krystal from Snake Racing met up with Adam Hall to find out how his 30″ Rigid Industries LED light bar was going.

Adam Hall is not an easy man to catch up with. A dedicated truckie, most of his year is spent at the wheel of a Kenworth Aerodyne. Towing stage equipment across Australia for visiting bands, Adam has worked with every music genre from Powderfinger to The Wiggles.

Spending most of the night driving straight through between shows, Adam ensures the stage always gets to the show on time. Krystal Harden from Snake Racing caught up with Adam as he passed through Sydney between shows.

Krystal: What other lighting have you tried in the past?
Adam: Hella Rally 2000’s- broke
Narvas- average
Lightforce 240s- stolen

Krystal: How did you find out about the Rigid Industries LED Bars?
Adam: I saw the lights on display at the Australian 4×4 masters and called Krystal from Snake Racing.

Krystal: Why did you choose the Rigid Industries Bar over other lighting types.
Adam: I do a lot of night driving so good lighting is a must. I like a lot of peripheral light and white light. A lot of people like to see distance but for me seeing the sides of the roads for kangaroo’s and wild animals running out is more important.

Krystal: How are you finding the 30” Bar so far?
Adam: 30” bar absolutely fantastic! I am amazed at how white the light is, especially in wet conditions. Most lights seem to disappear into the rain when driving however Rigid Industries LED’s seem to get brighter and light up everything!

Krystal: Touring across Australia would mean you are driving in variety of different conditions. How has your 30” performed in different driving conditions?
Adam: Yes, being on tour means we drive absolutely everywhere from Hobart to Darwin. I drive the Nullarbor Plains quite a bit.

Recently we had light rain as it came onto dusk and a lot of kangaroo’s came out to drink. This can be quite dangerous for a driver. Every other truck in the convoy of about 8 trucks had a lot of problems with the kangaroo’s. With my LED bar light has a good peripheral throw and most of the kangaroo’s actually kept off the road.

Krystal: Have you had much feed back from your friends and co-workers about your new Rigid Industries LED light bar?
Adam: Yes! I tend to be the lead driver on the convoys because I can see where we are going!

Everyone comments on the bar because it looks simple, not very big and like it is just for show, but it is certainly much more than that!

**

One in every seven Australians is affected by chronic kidney disease (CKD).

Kidney disease is not biased by age or gender and with one in 3 Australians at risk of developing kidney disease, it is quickly becoming the silent killer in modern society.

Snake Racing is proud to support the WorldRiderZ Foundation with their mission to increase awareness of chronic kidney disease and establish a global renal & urological network. The WorldRiderZ Foundation’s goal is to connect health professionals in major hospitals with remote, developing and impoverished regions so that medical advancements can be shared across the globe.

Stephane and Paul of the WorldRiderZ Foundation rode from Sydney to Paris in support for chronic kidney disease. Pushing the tiger inspired KTM Adventure 900’s through 9 countries, with the Discovery Channel capturing all the highs and lows as they succeeded in generating support and funding for the global renal network.

Krystal Harden from the Snake Racing team caught up with Stephane Etienne after he returned from Paris for an update on his epic journey and how the Rigid Industries LED Light Bars performed.

Krystal: Congratulations Stephane on your successful ride to France. Going by your blog it looks like it was quite the trip of a lifetime.
Stephane: The journey exceeded all hopes and expectations. As you say, it was a trip of a life time that wen’t fantastic. We had some challenges, dramas, fun, met many influential personalities including the Dalai Lama, Prince Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia and many more.

Krystal: Snake Racing donated the lighting on both KTM Adventure 900’s. I have a couple of questions on the Rigid Industies LED Bars and how you found them.

Krystal: Why did you choose the Rigid Industries LED Bar over other lighting types.
Stephane: The Rigid Industries LED Bar are fully rugged and waterproof. Being on such a long journey across various challenging terrains, I needed to have a 100% reliability on my lights, particularly in sandy areas at night. Those Rigid Industries LED haven’t let me done once!

How did you find their performance through out your journey?
Stephane: The 6” Amber Bar and Dually light combination that Snake Racing has given us has worked out beautifully. The Amber LED was mostly used in dirty/dusty terrains, giving us a much clearer vision – and the Dually LED were mostly used at night in the country sides where roads have no public light. They are very powerful, bright and work under all temperature variations.

Krystal: Travelling from Australia to Malyasia, through India, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Libya and Italy whilst on your way to France is quite an Extraordinary trip! Did the Rigid Industries LED light bars offer you any riding advantages?
Stephane: The Rigid Industries lighting gave us a total piece of mind. When you are travelling on 2-wheels you want to make sure other vehicles from various countries see you well. I felt a lot more safe keeping my lights switched on at all times to prevent oncoming traffic in rural areas and to give me a better vision in remote places.

Krystal: Have you had much feed back from your friends, co-workers, travellers about the Rigid Industries LED light bars mounted on your bikes?
Stephane: It’s been very interesting to see the reaction from the crowd looking at our KTM’s in each country. Lots of riders were asking where could they get a set of those great looking lights that works?

Krystal: Would you recommend the Rigid Industries LED light bars to others?
Stephane: 100% satisfied! They light up your path, are reliable and no maintenance, what more would you want?

Krystal: How much funding have you raised so far? Stephane: I will have final figure end of June ’11 – then the figure will be public, that way we don’t announce different numbers.

Krystal: How many hospitals are now on board as part of the Global Renal Network?
Stephane: All hospitals from the 9 countries visited in this journey. Australia – Malaysia – India – Saudi Arabia – Egypt – Libya – Tunisia – Italy – France

Krystal: What was your trip highlight?
Stephane: When we travelled to Dharamsala to meet with his holiness the Dalai Lama.

Krystal: Did you come across any unexpected challenges and how did you overcome them?
Stephane: My bike got stolen in Tripoli in Libya! That day was definitely the most challenging on the road. An amazing support and help from Tom Yates (Australian Consul in Libya) helped us recover the bike.

Krystal: When can we watch your story on the Discovery channel?
Stephane: In July ’11 we have to hand over all 6 episodes to Discovery Networks which will then decide of date of broadcasting. That should happen around August/September ’11.
