    RALLY PLANS UNDERWAY

FIRST PUBLISHED IN COFFS COAST INDEPENDENT

    By Vanessa Almond
    Aug. 30, 2012

PLANS for round five of the 2012 Bosch Australian Rally Championship – the ‘Snake Racing Rally Coffs’ – are well underway.

Chairman of the Bosch Australian Rally Championship (ARC) and Rally Australia, Ben Rainsford, said event clerk-of-course Adrian Dudok is working closely with the Bosch ARC and local organisers to deliver a rally that will attract substantial interest and continue on from a successful 2011 Rally Australia event held within the Coffs Coast region.

“The Snake Racing Rally Coffs will be one of the highlights of the Bosch ARC series for both spectators and drivers,” Rainsford said.

“Following Rally Australia 2011, World Rally Championship (WRC) competitors praised the roads of the Coffs Harbour region saying they were some of the best roads in the WRC.

“The Bosch ARC is pleased to be bringing rallying back to Coffs Harbour and the ARC competitors are looking forward to tackling the challenging and exciting stages around the Coffs region.”

The event is the penultimate round of the Bosch ARC, and will also feature the East Coast Bullbars SUV Challenge, the Australian Classic Rally Championship, the final round of the Side by Side Rally Challenge, the finale for the Rallyschool.com.au Australian Junior Challenge, plus two rounds of the NSW State Rally Championship.

Bosch ARC organisers estimate that a conservative figure on economic benefit from the rally will deliver at least 1500 room nights and close to $500,000 in revenue injected into Coffs over the three-day event.

Event naming rights sponsor, Snake Racing, is eagerly looking forward to the event. “Snake Racing is proud to be sponsoring the Coffs Rally in 2012,” proprietor Ryan Flanagan said.

“We have strong involvement in the Bosch ARC this year, particularly with the Side by Side Rally Challenge, and here at Snake Racing we are very excited to sponsor the Coffs Rally.”

Snake Racing’s involvement in the Bosch ARC extends beyond sponsorship to include involvement on the track in the Australian Side by Side Rally Challenge.

“We will be running a three car team and are pumped and ready to tackle the competition in the new side by side class,” Flanagan said.

The rally will be run over the same roads used for the WRC Coffs Harbour, and will take place from October 12-14.

The grand finale to the Bosch ARC will be Rally Victoria in Gippsland on November 16-17.

Sunsuper Ride to Conquer Cancer fundraiser a success

The girls from the Snake Racing cycling team held a fund raiser evening 2 weeks ago to help raise money for The Sunsuper Ride to Conquer Cancer. The evening was attended by over 250 people and a great night was had by all enjoying a silent auction, bike races and a major auction as well as other fund raising ideas. Special guest Glenn Whitehall from Keith Urban’s team on The Voice entertained the crowd also.

The money raised will go towards the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse at RPA hospital.  Rebecca Clay from the team said “The evening was a huge success helping us raise another $16 000 on top of the money we have all individually raised. That brings us to a total close to $44 000 so far. We just can’t believe how supportive everyone has been and we really want to thank the community and Ryan from Snake Racing for believing in us and backing us”.

The ride will be held over the weekend of 13th and 14th October and the girls have been training very hard all year in preparation to ride 100kms from the city of Sydney, Southwest out to the historic town of Camden. The girls will camp overnight with thousands of other cycling enthusiasts before returning another 100kms back to the city on Sunday.

If you wish to make a donation towards the team or to learn more about the event you can go to http://sy12.conquercancer.org.au/   Click on DONATE  and enter Snake Racing as the team and make your donation.

Wishing the girls all the best of luck.

Allcomers Added To Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally Line Up

    RallyCoffs_for_web

FIRST PUBLISHED ON ARC WEBSITE 29TH AUGUST 2012

Entries are now open for round five of  the Bosch ARC, the Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally and  organisers have announced  the addition of a new all comers category to make the event even more accessible to all types of rally cars. The All Comers category is a sort of ‘run what you brung’ class where cars which don’t comply with current CAMS classes can still compete.

The Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally is the penultimate round of the Bosch Australian Rally Championship,  and will also qualify as  two rounds of the 2012 New South Wales Rally Championship as well as the final round of the Side x Side Rally Challenge.

According to CEO of the Bosch Australian Rally Championship, Scott Pedder, the addition of the All Comers section makes the Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally much more accessible to all rally competitors.

“We want the Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally to be a highlight of the year for rally fans and competitors,” said Scott Pedder.

“The All Comers category allows competitors who have rally cars that don’t fit into established CAMS classes to compete in the Saturday stages.

“It should be a diverse and exciting part of the rally and gives competitors who would not normally compete in the Bosch ARC or the State Championship to drive on  some of the best rally roads in Australia which will also be the roads  to be used in next year’s WRC Rally Australia,”

The Snake Racing Coffs Coast Rally takes place 12-14 October. Entries for the Bosch Australian Rally Championship, Side x Side Challenge, NSW state championship, Classic Rally Challenge and the new all comers section will remain open until Friday 21 September.

Celebrations at the NSW Off Road Championship Milbrodale Mountain Classic

The boys from Snake Racing traveled up the Putty Road just south of Singleton on the weekend to attend and compete in the Hedweld Milbrodale Mountain Classic. This event was HVORRA’s main event for 2012 and was also the 5th round of the NSW Off Road Championship for 2012. With conditions clear, cool and slight wind gusts creating a great amount of dusts the boys were in for an interesting weekend.

Drivers Wayne Murphy and Mick Smith were both very happy with the feel and performance of their Snake Racing XP900’s and were ready to go all out to place as far up the ladder as they could. Besides a few misfortunes during the weekend they managed to finish 1st and 2nd in class with Wayne and navigator Chris finishing 29th outright and Mick and navigator Scott finishing 44th out of an impressive field of 76.

The weekend was filled with ups and downs for all competitors and saw Gregg Foss and Karin McRae taken away to hospital after a concerning accident on Saturday afternoon. Gregg was released and back at the track on Sunday morning however Karin was a little worse for wear and kept in due to a few nasty injuries, but should make a full recovery.

Wayne said “besides a few mishaps throughout the event the car ran perfectly, we managed to overtake quite a few vehicles and the dust made it all that more challenging for everyone. I don’t know how the officials and recovery crew handled the dust, we felt very sorry for them. Overall it was a great weekend and Murray ran a fantastic rally. The long race was awesome, extremely rough with tight technical tracks and we really enjoyed ourselves”.

Chris Taylor who navigated for Wayne says he is very happy with the results as it was only his second event as a navigator and he has taken home trophies from both events.  “ I am feeling sore and exhausted and hats off to all the drivers as I am amazed at their stamina and wheel work”.

Congratulations must go to Matthew Martin in his Jimco Nissan VQ35 V6 for finishing 1st outright, Adam Barnacoat in his Lothringer Daihatsu for placing 2nd and Mark Eveleigh in his Jimco Chev V8 who came in third.

All are looking forward to Round 6 of the NSW Off Road Championship at the Dondingalong Off Road Challenge coming up on 15th – 16th September.
